Our classes are offered to parents in the presence of their baby (age 0-12months) since the IAIM is a cue-based program. Parents-to-be; I will look forward to having you and your baby join a course when they are earth-side!

Over the 5-session course, the parents will learn the massage strokes, as well as become informed about important aspects relevant to the massage. Some examples are:

  •  the best time for massaging baby

  • positioning of massage

  • what oil to use

  • the best environment

  • the importance of asking for permission of their baby before massage

  • babies' behavioural states, reflexes and cues

  • the benefits and the special routine for the relief of colic and gas or constipation

In addition to the above, throughout the course, parents have the opportunity to chat about anything and everything they may be experiencing as parents/caregivers. Whether it's sleeping, feeding, crying, family life, going back to work... the sensational and the not-so-sensational aspects. Parents will learn a lot from the class instruction but will learn just as much from one another!

Group Classes

Parents are warmly invited to participate in our group classes for these reasons:

  • in a group you may experience immense comfort and reassurance

  • you are not alone in your joys and struggles - we're in it together!

  • being a part of group helps to reduce isolation, baby blues, postnatal depression, and contributes to emotional and mental well-being

One-to-one Classes

You may not be able to, nor wish to, attend a group class for various reasons. I am more than happy to discuss the possibility of a private class with you.

  • The entire course content remains the same as group classes

  • You will have my sole attention and an individualised approach

  • The class can be adjusted to suit your needs

Massage Stroke Instruction

Infant massage is broken down into parts and taught gradually over the course of the 5 classes. This is to ensure that baby has time to adjust to the massage sensations and to allow parents time to grasp the techniques and knowledge by practicing at home between classes.

Massage Strokes:

  • Week One: Legs and Feet

  • Week Two: Tummy (revise Legs & Feet)

  • Week Three: Chest & Arms (revise Legs & Feet + Tummy)

  • Week Four: Face & Back (revise Legs & Feet + Tummy + Chest & Arms)

  • Week Five: All Massage Strokes
