Frequently Asked Questions
What age are Baby Massage Courses for?
Baby Massage can be started at birth and classes are taught up to 1 year old.
Can I bring a sibling to the class?
It is recommended that you bring only your baby as it is intended to be a special one-on-one time. If you have no other arrangements, you are welcome to bring them with you. It is important that they do not disrupt the class so please bring along what you need to keep them occupied.
What should my baby wear?
Your baby should wear clothing that allows you to undress them easily during the class.
What do I bring to the class?
What you would normally take with you when leaving the house with baby (essentials, water bottle etc), plus a towel for baby to lay on.
Can I bring my partner/support person?
Absolutely! Whilst only one of you will be massaging baby, the other may practice with a doll or simply observe the class so that they may have a go at another time.
Where are classes held?
Classes are being held in my cosy little home studio, in North Lake, Western Australia. Street parking is available.
Can we come to a class if my baby has been recently vaccinated?
It is recommended that you avoid massage for a day or two after vaccinations as they may be unsettled or have a mild fever. You may still attend the class of course, but it would be best not to massage your child. You can follow along or practice with a doll instead if you wish to.
What oil is used?
100% Pure Organic Sunflower Oil. Unscented, cold-pressed and vegan friendly. Gentle and safe for baby's skin. You will be provided with a free 50ml bottle at your first class.
Can I bring my own oil?
You are more than welcome to bring your own oil. We recommend an unscented, organic, cold-pressed, high-quality vegetable oil such as coconut oil, avocado oil, canola oil etc. derived from plants. If your baby has any skin conditions that may require a specialised cream, please feel free to bring it with you.
What happens if my baby cries or falls asleep?
Baby is the boss and you are the expert! Their needs are the highest priority so you may tend to them however necessary throughout the class - feed, cuddle, nappy change. You are welcome to practice the massage strokes on a doll if your baby does not want to participate or has fallen asleep.
Strokes are revised at each session so there's no need to worry if you miss anything while tending to your Little Love.
What if my baby is unwell or we miss a session?
If you are unable to attend for any reason, we can arrange a makeup session at a convenient time or you can attend a session via Zoom.
Who will be massaging my baby?
The parent or caregiver only. Massage strokes will be demonstrated on a doll.
